Thomas Tuchel gave a glowing review of the talent of the Tino Anjorin academy during his last Chelsea press conference.
Anjorin has participated in several training sessions with the seniors after being replaced by the U23s.
He was on the bench for the Blues for their Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid and gained a few minutes in the FA Cup victory over Barnsley.
The two arrived under Tuchel’s watchful eye.
The Chelsea manager was asked what he thinks of the 19-year-old’s development.
Tuchel said: “I got to know Tino. I didn’t know him much. I was very impressed because he is a very physical player.
“A tall guy, a strong guy. He has the ability to keep the ball under pressure because he has the body for it.
“He has the physical ability to play and train with us at this level. He had a few minutes with Barnsley in the cup match.
“We decided to keep him to get to know him better, not to send him on loan.
“I’m happy with that. He is very good at finishing. Very beautiful character. Nice guy from the academy.
“Very humble. Totally focused. Very clear when you talk to him. Very self-aware.
Those associated with Cobham have high hopes for Anjorin, which is one of the few exciting young products yet to be loaned out.
His opportunities under Tuchel have been scarce due to the vast array of superstars already on display.
However, an FA Cup draw with Sheffield United on Sunday could give Anjorin an opening to show his talents.
It will definitely be a game Chelsea are set to win, meaning they can afford to make a whole bunch of changes from the midweek European clash.
Fringe players like Kepa Arrizabalaga, Emerson Palmieri and Billy Gilmour could all be in the game with a shot at the start.
This also includes Anjorin, who was clearly referred to by Tuchel as a future.
