Rowena Gail Conger, 91, of Washington, WV died on March 16, 2021 at The Willows. She was born April 10, 1929 in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of Wesley and Tura (Price) Reed. Rowena graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1947. She worked for First Federal Savings and Loan of Parkersburg as Treasurer and Vice President. She was also treasurer of the Bethel Homeowners Association for 25 years. Rowena loved bowling, sewing, cross stitching, and listening to country music.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Michael) Brown of Mineral Wells, her stepdaughter Deborah Conger of Parkersburg, her brother Donald (Shirley) Reed of Lynden, WA, her sister Marjorie Freshwater of Summerville, SC, her grandchildren Brian (Loretta) Brown of Chapmanville, WV, Amy (Joseph) Varney of Hurricane, WV, Brent (Kerry) Conger of Mineral Wells, Sean (Kyla) Conger of Parkersburg, great-grandchildren Dylan (Candace) Brown of Morgantown, Megan and Cameran Brown of Chapmanville, Emersyn and Liam Varney of Hurricane, Ciara (Gabe) Thomas of Little Hocking, OH, Chase Conger of Mineral Wells, Caleb and Baileigh Conger of Parkersburg, great-great-granddaughter Leah Thomas of Little Hocking, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Lester LeJeune “June” Conger, son Michael L. Conger (December 29, 2020), sister Linda Gain, and brothers-in-law Roy Freshwater and Teddy Gain.
By following Rowena’s wishes, there will be no service. Interment will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens. In memory of Rowena, visit an elderly person and do an “act of kindness” to someone. Rowena’s family would like to thank everyone at The Willows and Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Rowena and her family.
